The Queensland Academy of Sport is an initiative of the Queensland Government. It is currently a part of the Department of Communities, under the portfolio of the Minister for Child Safety and Minister for Sport, the Honourable Mr Phil Reeves MP.
The Government plays a crucial role in the funding and day-to-day operational tasks associated with running the Academy. A Board of former elite athletes and leaders in the Queensland sporting and business communities are responsible to the Minister for Sport for developing QAS policy and overseeing the overall direction of the Academy.
