Australia Day Honours
Six QAS athletes were recognised for their efforts at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing yesterday, being included in the Australia Day Honours list.
Ken Wallace (Kayak) Stephanie Rice (Swimming), Emma Snowsill (Triathlon), Bronte Barratt (Swimming), Melanie Schlanger (Swimming) and Duncan Free (Rowing) were all recipients of an Order of Australia Medal for their services to sport.

Jill Dwyer and Marnie Hudson were part of the silver medal winning women's Hockey team, going down to Great Britain in the final 3-2
Matt Gohdes, Scott Richards and Peter Dillon were part of the gold medal winning men's hockey team - defeating India 2-1 in the final

Stephanie Thomas was part of the silver medal winning women's team that went down to Hungary in the final 10-9
Lyndon Cranley and Matthew Giles were part of the bronze medal winning team that defeated China 21-1
Cycling
Scody Australian Open Road Championships in Buninyong
Carla Ryan won the 102km Road Race in 3hours 3mins 37sec, 40 seconds ahead of fellow Queenslander's and QAS athletes' Ruth Corset and Nikki Butterfield (nee Egyed) who placed second and third
Carla also won the Women's 28km Individual Road Time Trial Final in 41:21.05
Carla Ryan came through on the Cycling Talent Identification program, formerly a long distance runner
Football
As many as ten QAS athletes were on the Queensland Roar team that took out the inaugural W-League final, defeating Canberra 2-0.
QAS athlete Lana Harch was recognised as the W-League Player of the Season - contributing 6 goals throughout the season.
QAS Women's Football Coach, Jeff Hopkins was announced as Coach of the Year at the inaugural W-League Awards Ceremony
Seven QAS athletes were selected as part of the Matildas team that will take on Italy in two friendly matches to be played in Sydney and Canberra. (Lana Harch, Tameka Butt, Lauren Colthorpe, Elise Kellond-Knight, Kate McShea, Clare Polkinghorne and Karla Reuter)
Golf
Courtney Massey received a five year Golf scholarship with the University of Minnesota in an attempt to crack the lucrative USA circuit.
Recent results include spearheading the winning state team in last year's Gladys Hay interstate series, chipping in a brilliant eagle to secure the South Pacific Open at Surfers Paradise, Far North Queensland and Middle Ridge Open titles, an Australian Open and ANZ Ladies Masters berth

QAS athlete Emma Jackson placed second in the second race of the 2XU Australian Junior Triathlon Series in Canberra
Emma is tied for first place in the points score on 20, with fellow QAS athletes Ashleigh Gentle and Courtney Dutton tied in third place on 14 points.
