Athletics
• Mitchell Watt propelled himself up to number two on Australia's all-time long jump list with a massive 8.43m jump in Rethymno, Greece
• Sally McLellan won the first race of her European tour in Sotteville, France in 12.75 (her second fastest recorded time this year)
• Sally also won her race in Switzerland defeating the Olympic Champion in a time of 12.60 (the third fastest time of the year in the world, and Sally's third fastest time in her career)
Hockey
• The Australian Women's Hockey Team, the Hockeyroos, competed against Germany in a two test series. The Hockeyroos won the first match 2-0 and drew the second 2-2.
• The Hockeyroos met with Argentina in the final of the 2009 Women's Champions Trophy in Sydney - the game went to penalty strokes with the host nation being defeated 4-3.
Gymnastics
• Sam Simpson placed second in the all around event at the 2009 Men's Gymnastics National Championships with 83.150 points.
• Sam won the men's floor apparatus with a score of 14.725, placing third in the pommel horse on 13.525 points.
Softball
• The Aussie Spirit placed second at the US World Cup in July defeated by the host nation 3-1 - QAS athletes competing included Jodie Bowering, Danielle Stewart, Tracey Mosley and Kylie Cronk.
• The team also played in the Japan Cup, placing third and taking the bronze medal behind USA and Japan.
Swimming
• QAS athletes Justin James, Mitchell Larkin and Yolane Kukla will compete as part of the Green Australian team, while Jayden Hadler, Brittany Elmslie, Mikkayla Maselli-Sheridan and Tegan Warrener will compete in the Yellow team at the Trans Tasman Tour
• The 13th FINA World Championships kicked off in Rome, QAS athlete Gorman had a sensational start to her campaign taking out the Women's 5km Open Water event in 56:55.8.
Water Polo
• Member of the QAS men's water polo program, Rob Maitland has been honoured with the opportunity to carry the Australian flag at the Opening Ceremony of the World University Games
• Melissa Rippon, Bronwen Knox, Kate Gynther and Jane Moran competed in the Women's World Championship, joining fellow QAS athletes Sophie Smith and Kate Miller - the team placed 5th
• Australia won the bronze medal at the High Tatras Cup junior men's water polo tournament, finishing with an 8-7 victory over Croatia .
