• Seven QAS athletes have qualified for the team that will compete in the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Berlin: Justin Anlezark (shot put), Jarrod Bannister (Javelin), Patrick Johnson (4x100m relay), Matt Davies (4x100m relay), Sally McLellan (100m hurdles), Mitchell Watt (long jump) and Alana Boyd (pole vault)
• Sally McLellan was recognised as the 2008/2009 Athlete of the Year with Steve Hooker at the Athletics Australia gala awards function
Cycling
2009 UCI Track Cycling World Championships
• Anna Meares claimed silver in the women's 500m time trial event in 33.796 and gold in the women's team sprint with partner Kaarle McCulloch in 33.149.
Hockey
Australian Hockey League
• QAS athletes on the 2009 QLD Blades team include Robert Hammond, Jason Wilson, Mark Knowles, Jacob Burns, Matthew Swann, Kris Glass, Liam De Young, Michael Bates, Tim Bates, Stephen Lambert and making their debut are Peter Dillon, Ben McCarthy and Matt Gohdes.
• QAS athletes on the QLD Scorchers team include Madonna Blyth, Jill Dwyer, Prue Eiser, Marnie Hudson, Nikki Hudson, Carla Hunter, Amy Korner, Kristin Johnson, Rebecca Reuter, Jane Bennett and making her debut is Jodie Schulz.
• Currently the Queensland Blades are leading the men's competition going into the finals series and are looking to make their eighth consecutive appearance in the grand final.
• The Queensland Scorchers are currently placed fourth going into finals week in Melbourne.
• Senior QAS athlete Nikki Hudson announced her retirement this month following 303 international games for the Hockeyroos including three Olympic Games, three Commonwealth Games, sixteen years with the Queensland Scorchers and ten Champions Trophies.

• Robert Hoyes: 2nd open men's lightweight single scull, 2nd men's interstate coxless four
• Darryn Purcell: 3rd open men's lightweight, 2nd men's interstate lightweight coxless four
• Madeleine Edmunds: 1st under-19 women's coxless quad scull, under-19 women's double scull
• Sally Kehoe: 1st open women's double scull, 1st interstate women's single scull, 2nd interstate women's eight

2009 Telstra Australian Swimming Championships
• Eighteen QAS athletes will travel to Rome as part of the World Championship team after their performances at the Australian Swimming Championships
• Ellen Fullerton, Cate Campbell, Meagen Nay, Stephanie Rice, Bronte Barratt, Melissa Gorman, Sophie Edington, Emily Seebohm, Jessicah Schipper, Samantha Hamill, Christian Sprenger, Kenrick Monk, Nick D'Arcy, Stephen Parkes, Christopher Wright, Kyle Richardson, Ryan Napoleon and Leith Brodie.
Triathlon
• Courtney Atkinson and Annabel Luxford won the City of Perth Challenge
• James Seear placed third and claimed a spot on the World Championship team that will compete in September.
• Courtney Atkinson won the ITU Mooloolaba Triathlon World Cup men's division and Emma Moffatt placed second win the women's event.
Water Polo
National Water Polo League
• QAS athletes on the KFC Breakers team include Daniel Streets, David Will, Jordan Votan, Lyndon Cranley, Mitchell McCann, Rafeal Sterk and Sam Roberston.
• After fourteen games the KFC Breakers are leading the men's competition with 42 points
• QAS athletes on the Barracudas include Blake Edwards, Clay Douyere-Pate, Daniel Young and Matthew Giles - currently placed eighth
• In the women's competition the Brisbane Barracudas are placed third on the ladder while the KFC Breakers are currently ninth after fourteen matches.
• QAS athletes on the women's Brisbane Barracudas team include Jane Moran, Kate Gynther, Kelsey Wakefield, Hannah Robinson, Melissa Rippon, Nanda Stoltz, Sophie Smtith and Stephanie Thomas
• QAS athletes on the KFC Breakers team include Bronwen Knox, Emily Young and Sarah Mills
