Six Queenslanders set to represent at Road Cycling World Championships

The Australian team for the 2016 UCI Road Cycling World Championships includes six Queensland representatives, with the athletes set to compete in Doha, Qatar next week from 9-16 October.

 A team of 31 in total will head overseas to compete in elite, under 23 and under 19 categories.

Reigning national time trial champion, top ten finisher in the time trial at the Rio Olympic Games and the first Australian winner of the recent Chrono Champenois, Queenslander Katrin Garfoot will represent in the women’s elite division alongside fellow Queenslander Loren Rowney.

Bringing further experience into the team will be Queensland’s Adam Hansen in the elite men’s time trial.

Nicholas Schultz is one of eight in the Under 23 squad and with a recent stage win at the Tour de l’Avenir under his belt, will be going in confident.

Harry Sweeny and Jaime Gunning were named as part of the under 19 squad, with Harry making his second world championships appearance and Jaime on debut.
