One year from today, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will be set to open!

It is just 365 days (and counting) until the Australian team will be ready to represent their state and nation at their home Games. It is such an exciting time for Australia and the host city of the Gold Coast.

Queenslanders are a proud sporting community and if you’ve been anywhere near the Gold Coast or any of the venues being constructed for the Games, you will have experienced the hype and anticipation that is growing throughout the state.

With the Queen’s Baton already on its journey and applications open for everyday Australians to participate in the relay, the official Ticketing Guide now available online and volunteers rallied – we are gearing up for what is set to be an amazing twelve months that is sure to encapsulate the spirit of the Games.

The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is already hard at work with those athletes who have their eyes set on qualifying for the Australian team – which is set to take part in the largest competition events schedule in Commonwealth Games history.

The GC2018 Competition Events Schedule details all 23 sporting disciplines across the integrated sport and Para-Sport program, including competition dates and times.

The QAS are passionate about preparing our athletes to reach their peak in performance and this next year will be the prime time for our staff and support networks to be working towards this goal.

The GC2018 Games present a unique opportunity for the state’s athletes. Being able to compete for their country in their own backyard is a rare privilege and one which many will relish.

We are looking forward to seeing all of the preparations for the Games come together one year from now, but in between now and then we will continue to #SHARETHEDREAM with you!
