The QAS Board is responsible to the Minister for National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing, the Honourable Mr Steven Dickson MP, for developing QAS policy and overseeing the overall direction of the Academy. The Board includes a number of former elite athletes and leaders in the Queensland sporting community.
Tracy Stockwell OAM (Chair of the Board)
- Past President of Womensport Queensland and a Board member for the Queensland Events Corporation
- Former member of the Brisbane City Council Advisory Committee
- Captained the United States Swimming Team at the 1984 Olympics, where she won three gold medals
- Held five world records in swimming

Ray Epstein OAM, B Comm CA

- Represented Australia at 12 international competitions for weightlifting/powerlifting, including the Seoul and Barcelona Paralympic Games (was Team Captain for Barcelona)
- Queensland Sporting Wheelies Coach of the Year 1998,2004, 2006
- Awarded Medal of the Order of Australia in the 1994 Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to people with a disability and the sport of weightlifting
- Member of selection panel for 2008 Brisbane City Council Olympic Awards.

Professor Brendan Burkett OAM, PhD Biomechanics
- Paralympic Swimming Champion, World Champion, World Record holder, Commonwealth Games and Australian multiple medallist

Wilma Shakespear AM
- Has extensive experience in the development and administration of high performance sport with a background as an elite athlete and national coach in netball
- Ms Shakespear was an inaugural member of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and was Head Coach for Netball, responsible for developing an innovative high performance program that allowed Australian Netball to dominate the sport internationally. She later became Manager Elite Sport at the AIS responsible for more than 30 sports programs.
