Queensland Academy of Sport Men's hockey is a medal potential program consisting of Queensland's leading players aged 17 and over.
The goal of the program is to develop athletes for inclusion in Australian under-18, under-21 and open teams. There is a great deal of integration with the AIS Hockey Program to ensure a coordinated approach to the development of players for international competition. This coordinated approach has played a vital role in Australia's international success.
In the Australian Hockey League, the QAS squad competes as the Queensland Blades. Dominating the AHL for 2003 and 2004, the Queensland Blades just missed out on a triple premiership in 2005, won the title back in 2006 and 2007, and placed second in 2008, 2009 before taking back the title in 2010. QAS athletes that are not members of the Queensland Blades compete in the Australian Under-21 and Under-18 National Championships.
