Atkinson and Jackson win at Noosa

QAS athletes Courtney Atkinson and Emma Jackson have ended the year with a fantastic win in the men's and women's division of the 2009 Noosa Triathlon.

The major festival on the Sunshine Coast draws competitors from all athletic abilities - with the elite race being contested on the Sunday of five day event.

Courtney Atkinson successfully defended his 2008 title with back to back wins in a time of 1:47.03 ahead of fellow QAS team mates James Seear and Joshua Amberger. It didn't come easily however, as Courtney had to chase the leaders down following a crash in the bike leg just 5km from the finish line.

Emma Jackson emerged as another future asset to women's Triathlon, taking out the women's race in a time of 2:01.02 ahead of Sarah Crowley and QAS athlete Annabel Luxford.

Showing her strength Emma also came from behind to win the title in her first appearance at the elite women's level and only her fourth attempt at an Olympic distance race. Like her fellow "Emma's" - Emma Snowsill and Emma Moffatt - Emma Jackson completed a very strong run leg to win the event.

As a member of the Australian Junior Elite Squad, Emma Jackson has had a successful couple of months following her silver medal win at the World Triathlon Championships in September.
