Cycling
• At the 2009 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships Jared Graves placed first; winning his round of 32 the quarter final and semi final rounds.
• Graves won the Four Cross event with a first place ranking and 32 points
• Australia placed third on the medal tally with two gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Hockey
• Madonna Blyth, Teneal Attard and Amy Korner have been selected to compete as part of the Australian Women's Team, the Hockeyroos that will tour Spain and Argentina.

Rugby Union
• Twenty year old QAS Reds Academy and Australian Sevens scrumhalf Richard Kingi has been named in a Wallaby train-on squad that will assemble in Sydney to prepare for the end of year tour of Japan, the UK and Ireland.
• The sharp-stepping Kingi is one of 10 uncapped players and four scrum halves in the 43-man squad, which will undergo four days of training before being trimmed to a tour party of 35 on October 9.

Swimming
• Trent Grimsey has backed up his recent relay win at the Maui Channel Swim with a win in the annual Roughwater Swim held in Maui, Hawaii.
• The 2.4mile (3.9km) event attracted over 1000 competitors to the Hawaiian destination with this being its 40th year in existence.  A prestigious event, Grimsey won the race in 42:20.0.
• Melissa Gorman has won the Tiburon Mile in San Francisco. In her first attempt at this race, Melissa took home the major prize and the biggest monetary prize of her career, a massive US$10,000.
• Trent Grimsey who took the silver medal in the open water event at the Rome World Championships, also placed second here at the Tiburon Mile in a time of 22:18.
• Jessicah Schipper and Melissa Gorman have been nominated for the prestigious 2009 Telstra People's Choice Award which will be presented at the annual Swimmer of the Year Awards.

Tennis
• Jason Kubler, a member of the QAS Tennis program, competed in the Grade B2 event in Fiji recently defeating fellow Australian William Kwok to win the second major ITF Junior title of his career.
• The sixteen year old from Mango Hill won his first ITF Junior title in July this year at the Darwin event, which saw his world ranking jump to inside the top 100. As a result Kubler will receive direct entry into the Junior Grand Slam events in 2010, including the Australian Open.

Triathlon
• Emma Moffatt has taken out the 2009 ITU World Championship following her win at the Grand Final of the series at the Gold Coast.
• The 2009 Gold Coast Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Grand Final featured a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run for the elite men and women.
• Emma Moffatt completed the home town course in 1:59.14 ahead of Lisa Norden from Sweden
• Annabel Luxford placed 10th on the World Championship ranking ladder with 2191 points.
• Adam Carlton placed third in the 2009 ITU Aquathlon World Championship after completing the 2.5km run, 1000m swim and 2.km run in a time of 30.36.
• Fellow QAS athlete Emma Jackson placed second in the Junior Women's Triathlon in a time of 1:00.41.
• James Seear, favourite to win the men's Under 23 World Championship title, placed second in a time of 1:46.25.
