Information Centre
The QAS Information Centre houses books, journals, reports, DVDs, CD ROMs and videos on a range of subjects relating to sport, with a particular focus on sport science, sport medicine and coaching.
The services of the Information Centre are not limited to QAS staff, with any individual or organisation involved in sport able to apply for membership.
A major aim of the Information Centre is to provide an innovative service to QAS staff and outside members through electronic access to information wherever possible. This has led to the use of databases such as SPORT DISCUS and Medline, as well as the development of in-house databases to support the work of the QAS.
The Information Centre is also the hub of audio-visual services at the Academy, offering full video editing, dubbing and production facilities in a variety of formats.
Finally, the Information Centre has developed a comprehensive records management system for the QAS, encompassing policies and procedures for both paper and electronic records. The development of a file classification scheme, which is both easy to use and comprehensively covers the Academy's requirements, has been a major priority.
