Performance Knowledge Centre

The QAS Performance Knowledge Centre houses books, journals, reports, DVDs, CD ROMs and videos on a range of subjects relating to sport, with a particular focus on servicing the high performance units of sport science, sport medicine and coaching.

The Performance Knowledge team does not service QAS staff exclusively, with any individual or organisation involved in sport encouraged to contact the Centre and apply for membership.

A major aim of Performance Knowledge is to provide an innovative service to QAS staff and outside members through electronic access to information and technology wherever possible.

This approach has led to the use of databases such as SPORT DISCUS and Medline, as well as the development of in-house databases to support the work of the QAS staff.

The Performance Knowledge Centre is also the hub of audio-visual services at the Academy, equipped with the latest in Mac desktops and Smart screen TVs plus full video editing, dubbing and production facilities in a variety of formats.

Performance Knowledge has also developed a comprehensive records management system for the QAS, encompassing policies and procedures for both paper and electronic records. The development of a file classification scheme that is easy to use, whilst comprehensively covering all of the Academy’s requirements, has been a major priority.

You can now access the QAS holdings via the Clearinghouse Catalogue which is part of the National Sport Information Centre/Clearinghouse for Sport.
