Sport Medicine
The Academy's Sport Medicine department performs a vital role in ensuring athletes are prepared to compete at the highest level within their sport. With the demands that elite sport places on the bodies of athletes, illness and injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation are of great importance.
QAS sport medicine takes a wide-spanning approach to athlete health and welfare with services including specialised sports medicine, physiotherapy, nutrition, psychology and massage. The Academy houses an on-site medical centre incorporating a rehabilitation room, nutrition training centre and consultation rooms.
The medical centre provides coaches with the ability to conduct medical screening for their athletes incorporating musculoskeletal, medical, nutrition and psychology all on-site at the Academy.
The Sport Medicine department appoints a coordinator for each of the specialised areas to oversee the extensive network of highly qualified service providers available to QAS athletes. They work closely with coaches, sport scientists, strength and conditioning coaches and Athlete Career and Education practitioners to enhance the overall performance of QAS athletes.
To ensure that each of the service providers are kept up-to-date on the latest developments in their field the QAS hosts regular professional development forums for the Sport Medicine network.
Athletes and coaches can access the QAS Sport Medicine department by contacting the Sport Medicine Administrator on 3872 0150 Monday until Friday.
