Strength and Conditioning

The QAS Strength and Conditioning department forms one of the cornerstone support services alongside coaching, sport science and sport medicine. The Strength and Conditioning Coaches provide a specialist service in the planning, monitoring and delivery of strength and conditioning programs.

In broad terms, the Strength and Conditioning department provides services in the areas of speed, agility, endurance, strength, stability, flexibility, injury prevention, management and rehabilitation using a long term athlete development model. This work is performed through consultation with QAS head coaches, sport scientists, sport medicine and Athlete Career and Education practitioners to ensure a coordinated approach to athlete development.

The Strength and Conditioning department incorporates four full-time coaches and a network of regional casual strength and conditioning coaches. All coaches are university graduates with extensive experience in the practical delivery of strength and conditioning to elite athletes.

Along with developing and delivering world-class strength and conditioning programs, QAS strength and conditioning coaches are involved in developing best practice models in injury prevention and rehabilitation and long term athlete development. The team has continued to develop a number of return-to-sport injury rehabilitation programs.
