Strength and conditioning
The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) employs highly knowledgeable and exceptionally well credentialed strength and conditioning coaches to provide world class service to elite Queensland athletes.
These coaches are tasked with improving a range of fitness qualities, including strength, speed, power, endurance, and mobility. In addition to improving performance, these coaches are also well versed in injury reduction strategies and rehabilitation protocols. They are driven to keep our athletes training at a high level and to return them to competition quickly and effectively when injury has occurred.
The Strength and Conditioning coaches work to achieve these outcomes by completing a thorough needs analysis of international competition for each athlete.
With the competitive demands of the sport determined, they work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary service team and coach to produce high-level periodised training plans that direct the training program design for each individual athlete. Finally, these training programs are adjusted as needed using a combination of objective and subjective athlete monitoring practices on a day-to-day basis.
Our Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) strength and conditioning coaches provide services in the areas of:
