Track and Field Birmingham Team selected

Ten Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) supported athletes selected to in Championship Team aiming to defend gold in track, field and road to Birmingham.

Ten QAS supported athletes will be aiming for success following selection in Birmingham Commonwealth Games Athletics Team including Tokyo stars Matt Denny (discus), Elizabeth Clay (100m hurdles), Ashley Moloney, Cedric Dubler (Decathlon), Kelsey Lee Barber (Javelin) and Tokyo 2020 and 2018 Commonwealth Games semi finalist Riley Day (200m and 4 x 100m Relay).

In further exciting news four QAS supported athletes will debut at Birmingham - Ella Connolly (100m, 200m and 4 x 100m Relay), Katie Hayward (10000m Walk), Ky Robinson (5000m and 10000m) and Daniel Golubovic (Decathlon).

The team selected includes Australia’s best track and field talent, all of whom have received automatic selection through competing in world class events or invitations to compete in Birmingham.

Commonwealth Games Australia and Athletics Australia are set to announce the final selections of the Australian Athletics Team for Birmingham in the coming days, following the end of the qualification period.

The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be held from Thursday 28 July to Monday 8 August with the Athletics competitions to be conducted from Tuesday 2 August through to Sunday 7 August at Alexander Stadium.
