Para Unit
The QAS Para Unit is designed to support Queensland’s para athletes from the pathway to the podium, building a lasting legacy for Para sport in Australia. Our goal is to ensure more athletes with a disability can get involved in Para sport, be discovered and chase their dreams to represent Australia on the world stage.
Part of the national Para Uplift, in partnership with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Paralympics Australia, the Unit is on a bold mission to more than double the number of QAS supported Para athletes by 2028, creating a generational shift in talent heading into LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.
“We want to create this groundswell of talent that is existing in the community that might not know there is a pathway to Paralympic sport and give them every opportunity to achieve at the highest level." - QAS CEO - Troy Ayres.
Key initiatives of the Para Unit
The Para Unit supports athletes to discover Para sport opportunities, develop their potential with world-class coaching and tailored guidance, and build the skills needed to progress toward elite competition.
