Queensland bowlers selected for GC2018

Six Queensland bowlers were announced as part of the 17-person squad selected to represent Australia at next year’s Commonwealth Games.

Gold Coast trio Nathan Rice, Aron Sherriff and Brett Wilkie secured their spot on the Men’s team, Jake Fehlberg and Lynne Seymour rounded out the vision-impaired athletes and Tony Bonnell was chosen to compete in the para classification.

According to Bowls Australia, Head Coach Steve Glasson said the team is looking to improve on their performances at recent Games’ and reaffirm their position on the world stage amongst the global powerhouses.

Commonwealth Games Australia Chef de Mission for Gold Coast 2018 Steve Moneghetti told Bowls Australia the country’s chances of success on the pitch are heightened with the team boasting a combination of Commonwealth Games debutants and veterans.

The lawn bowls will be taking place at Broadbeach Bowls Club from Thursday April 5 to Friday April 13.
