QAS Yearbook

2018 'The Year that was'

‘The Year that Was’ 2018 (PDF, 512K) at the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) shows what goes into assisting the success of Queensland’s elite sporting talent.

2018 proved to be a major highlight for the QAS with many amazing performances recorded and goals achieved. The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games saw Queensland surge with pride as we played host to some of the world’s most talented athletes. Our athletes shone alongside an array of first-class facilities and Games volunteers. Queenslanders came away with 90 medals and many more memories.

The QAS named it’s Athlete of the Year, aptly presented to Winter Paralympic gold medallist, Simon Patmore. A true champion and well deserved recipient of the Academy’s most prestigious award.

The QAS aims for a holistic approach to operation, not only through athletes and coaches but also including the services and personnel behind the achievements of the individuals. This is evident in the outstanding commitment and cooperation of our staff from the different areas such as Physical Performance, Performance Science, Personal Development, High Performance Management, and alike. Combined with impressive facilities, the Academy strives to create the best possible conditions for athletes to achieve their dreams, on and off the field.
