Paris Paralympics 2024 Results: Day 2
Korey Boddington claims gold in his Paralympic debut. Keira Stephens finishes fourth in the Women's SB9 100 metres Breaststroke Final. Melissa Tanner defeats Costa Rica's Maria del Pilar Riveros in the Women's Individual Compound Open 1/16 Elimination Round and now faces Great Britain's defending champion. The Australian Steelers defeat France and head into their final preliminary match against Denmark.
Day 2 at the Paris Paralympics was epic!
Para Cycling - Track
QAS supported cyclist and Paralympic debutant Korey Boddington claimed gold in the Men's C4-5 1000 metre Time Trial with a time of 1:02.487. The 27-year-old from the Sunshine Coast set a new Games record in qualifying and took that form into the Final.
An incredible result for Korey, after 18 months in the sport. "This is unbelievable. I want to tell kids out there to go for their dreams. To fight for them. You've got to shoot for the stars," he said.
Korey will line up in the Men's C4-5 Road Race for his next event.

Para Swimming
QAS supported swimmer Keira Stephens came agonisingly close to a medal, finishing fourth in the Women's SB9 100 metres Breaststroke Final. The 21-year-old from the Gold Coast was just 0.5 second behind the Netherland's Lisa Kruger. Keira is competing in her second Paralympics and won Bronze in this event in Tokyo.
Australia's Mixed- 20 Points - 4x50m Freestyle relay team featuring QAS supported swimmers Grant 'Scooter' Patterson and Holly Warn was been disqualified in the Final. Earlier, the pair helped Australia set an Oceania Record in their heat and make the first Paralympics 20 point final for Australia since 2016.
Para Athletics
QAS supported athlete Corey Anderson finished sixth in the Men's F38 Javelin Throw Final. The 24-year-old threw 49.34 metres to finish just 2.63 metres out of the medals. Corey is coached by Lukas Cannan and is competing in his second Games.

Para Archery
QAS supported archer Melissa Tanner defeated Costa Rica's Maria del Pilar Riveros 137-133 in the Women's Individual Compound Open 1/16 Elimination Round. The 50-year-old now moves on to the Open 1/8 Elimination Round against defending champion Phoebe Paterson Pine from Great Britain.

Para Rowing
QAS supported rower Erik Horrie moved to the Repechage Round of the PR1 Men's Single Sculls, finishing third in Heat 1 of the event. The 44-year-old is competing in his fourth Paralympics and is a triple silver medallist.
Australia's Mixed - PR3 - Coxed Four featuring QAS supported rowers Susannah Lutze and Tobiah Goffsassen narrowly missed direct passage to Final A, finishing a tight 3rd in their heat. They now move on to tonight's Repechage Round.
Para Shooting
Queenslander Natalie Smith fell just short of qualifying for the R2 - Women's Air Rifle Standing SH1 Final, finishing 12th in qualification. The 49-year-old from Brisbane is competing in her fourth Paralympics.
Wheelchair Basketball
The Australian Rollers Wheelchair Basketball team featuring QAS supported players Bill Latham, Eithen Leard and Sam White suffered a second loss in as many games, going down 68-60 to the highly fancied Spain. The team plays the United States in their final preliminary game.

Wheelchair Rugby
The World Champion Australian Steelers Mixed Wheelchair Rugby team including QAS supported athletes Beau Vernon, Brayden Foxley-Conolly, Chris Bond, Ella Sabljak, Emilie Miller, Josh Nicholson and Ryley Batt bounced back from a first game loss to record a hard fought 55-53 win over hosts France. Chris Bond and Ryley Batt led the scoring for Australia with 27 and 26 tries respectively. The Steelers have their final preliminary match against Denmark tonight.
