21 June 2022

Four Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) supported athletes are looking to dive their way to a medal in Birmingham.

Among the richly talented squad of fourteen divers are our very own QAS supported athletes, Maddison Keeney and debutants Emily Boyd, Emily Meaney, and Cassiel Rousseau.

Based at Sleeman Sports Complex, Boyd, Keeney, Meaney and Rousseau train with National Coach Adrian Hinchliffe and his coaching team alongside expert performance staff and facilities led by the QAS.

The divers will be competing in individual and synchro events:

Emily Boyd - Women's 10 metre platform and Women's 10 metre synchro

Cassiel Rousseau - Men's 10 metre platform and Men's 10 metre Synchro

Emily Meaney - Women's 10 metre platform

Maddison Keeney - Women's 3 metre Synchro

Diving Australia General Manager of High Performance and Pathways Steve Foley, a former Commonwealth Games competitor himself, said he is proud of this dedicated cohort and what they have been through to get to this moment.

“All fourteen of our diving athletes have been working incredibly hard over the past four years to qualify for the Games, and I know they will continue to shine on the world stage in Birmingham.

The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be held from Thursday 28 July to Monday 8 August with the Diving competition to be conducted from Thursday 4 August through Monday 8 August with the competition to be held at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre.
