Making history at the BMX Racing World Cup, debuting in the Diamond League and more

QAS-supported athletes are achieving outstanding results on the international and domestic stages. From Izaac Kennedy and Teya Rufus's BMX Racing World Cup titles, becoming Water Polo National Champions and so much more.

National competition results:

BMX Racing World Cup, Tulsa USA

At the BMX Racing World Cup in Tulsa, QAS-supported BMX rider Izaac Kennedy wrapped up an exceptional season by clinching victory in the overall men's elite World Cup. Despite finishing as the runner-up in rounds five and six, Kennedy's consistent performance throughout the season propelled him to the top spot in the final standings.

This achievement caps off a remarkable season for Kennedy, who demonstrated resilience and determination after returning from a ruptured ACL earlier in the year. Just two weeks after his return, he secured his first career World Cup round victory in Brisbane, setting the stage for his continued success on the international stage.

Another remarkable achievement came from QAS Talent Support Plan athlete,17-year-old Teya Rufus, who clinched her World Cup series victory by securing gold in round 5 of the Women’s U23 event.

Izaac and Teya, along with fellow Australian riders from NSWIS Saya and Oliver, made history as the first country to win all four categories in a single year.

Diamond League, China

QAS-supported athlete Cara Feain-Ryan made her debut at the Diamond League event in China, achieving the second fastest time of her career with a time of 9:31.68 and securing 11th place in the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase.

Youth International Diving Meet, Germany

QAS-supported diver Maggie Grey demonstrated her excellence at the Youth International Diving Meet in Germany by clinching two gold medals. Maggie secured gold in the girls' B platform event and further solidified her performance with another gold medal in the team event and continues to establish a strong presence on the international stage.

Australian Water Polo League, Sydney

In a stellar performance, the all QAS-supported Griffith University Queensland Thunder women’s team secured their third national championship title over the weekend,

Dominating the competition, they emerged victorious with a 13-9 triumph over the Freemantle Marlins.
