QAS supported Olympic and Paralympic athletes bound for Paris

Paris Paralympic selection:

The first cohort of Australian Paralympic athletes for the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games has been announced, featuring QAS-supported athletes three-time Paralympic gold medallist Curtis McGrath and two-time Paralympic medallist Susan Seipel, who have secured their spots in the para-canoe team.

Paris Olympic selection:

Two QAS-supported athletes, Matthew Denny and Michelle Jenneke, have secured their spots in the stellar lineup of fourteen athletes announced for the Australian athletics team heading to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

National competition results:

Oceania Triathlon Championships Taupo

At the Oceania Triathlon Championships in Taupo, QAS-supported triathlete Matt Hauser showcased a stellar performance, clinching the top spot and securing the gold medal. Hauser's victory saw him outpace New Zealand's Tayler Reid and fellow QAS-supported athlete, Brandon Copeland.

The defining moment of the race came in the third lap of the 10-kilometer run, where Hauser made a strategic surge, propelling himself ahead of the competition. With an impressive display of athleticism and determination, Hauser crossed the finish line with a commanding lead, clocking in at an impressive time of 1:47:20, a remarkable 29 seconds ahead of Reid.

Athletics National Championship, Adelaide

The 2024 Chemist Warehouse Australian Athletics Championships in Adelaide showcased phenomenal performances with QAS-supported athletes securing numerous National titles and achieving an impressive medal haul, underlining their exceptional talent and dedication on the track and field.

Here are some standout performances:

Matthew Denny secured the gold medal in Discus with a record-breaking throw of 69.35 meters. Not only did he set a personal best , but he also established a new Championship Record and Australian Record , solidifying his status as a dominant force in the sport.

Adding to his accolades, Matt was awarded with the Betty Cuthbert Medal  for the Most Outstanding Single Performance of the championships, further highlighting the magnitude of his achievement.

Michelle Jenneke: Dominated the 100m hurdles, clinching the gold medal with a swift time of 12.88 seconds (0.0), while Liz Clay secured the silver medal with a time of 13.03 seconds.

Ash Moloney: Triumphed in the Decathlon, earning the gold medal with a total score of 7,884 points.

Naa Anang: Seized the gold medal in the 100m dash with a blazing time of 11.34 seconds (-0.6).

Torrie Lewis: Claimed the gold medal in the 200m sprint with a time of 23.05 seconds (-0.3), achieving a personal best in the heat with a time of 22.94 seconds (+1.7), while Riley Day secured the bronze medal with a time of 23.65 seconds.

Calab Law: Emerged victorious in the 200m dash, earning the gold medal with a swift time of 20.54 seconds (-1.0).

Samantha Schmidt showcased her exceptional talent in both the Discus Ambulant and Shot Put Ambulant events, securing gold medals with impressive throws. She achieved a distance of 31.83 meters in the Discus and set a personal best with a throw of 10.01 meters in the Shot Put.

Nash Lowis: Displayed remarkable skill in the Javelin throw, earning the silver medal with a distance of 75.31 meters.

Neil Janse: Secured the bronze medal in the Javelin event with a throw of 74.70 meters.

Kelsey Lee-Barber: Claimed the bronze medal in the Javelin throw with a distance of 55.13 meters.

Henry Frayne: Showcased his talent in the Long Jump, earning the bronze medal with a leap of 7.93 meters.

Corey Anderson:  Secured a silver medal in the Javelin F38 event with a throw of  49.49 meters.
