Paris Olympic selection & International competition results:

QAS-supported athletes, Bree Masters, Torrie Lewis, and Calab Law have secured their spots for Australia’s women’s and men’s 4x100m relay teams heading to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The selection was announced at the World Athletics Relay Championships in the Bahamas marking their first Olympic appearance since Sydney 2000 with a record-breaking performance in the opening round of the World Athletics Relay Championships in the Bahamas.

The team, comprising Australia’s fastest women and QAS-supported athlete Torrie Lewis, Bree Masters, Ella Connolly (NSWIS) and Ebony Lane (VIS) demonstrated their prowess, finishing the heats in a national-record time of 42.83 seconds.

This milestone achievement ends a two-decade Olympic hiatus for the team and beginning a promising new era for Australian sprinting on the world stage.

The team then finished fifth in the final, showcasing their ability to excel in the top tier of world track sprinting.

The men’s 4x100m relay team, comprising QAS-supported athlete Calab Law, Sebastian Sultana (NSWIS), Jacob Despard (TAS) and Joshua Azzopardi (NSWIS) finished in 38.46 seconds to be second across the line in repechage, automatically confirming their team’s inclusion in the Olympic competition.

The men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams fell just short of winning a quota but still have a chance to book a ticket to Paris, with the top 2 unqualified teams on the World Athletics relays ranking list on 30 June 2024 earning a quota.

In another outstanding announcement, QAS-supported surfer Ethan Ewing, was named one of four surfers making their Olympic debut in Paris building on the sport’s Olympic legacy, which began in Tokyo in 2020.

The Aussie Stingers Women’s Water Polo team has been announced for Paris – the first team sport to be named for the Games. QAS-supported athletes Elle Armit, Abby Andrews and Gabi Palm are all headed to their second Olympics while Charlize Andrews and Alice Williams will be making their Olympic debut.
