Queensland Academy of Sport support for a gold medal athlete!

01 August 2021

In an exciting world first, Logan Martin (men’s BMX Freestyle) has won gold for Australia in the sport’s first ever appearance at an Olympic Games.

With a total score of 93.30 the Queenslander claimed the gold by beating out Venezuela's Daniel Dhers and Great Britain's Declan Brooks.

Logan was able to practice his death-defying manoeuvres at the new Freestyle BMX Course at the Gold Coast Sports Precinct which was delivered by the Queensland Academy of Sport in partnership with the City of Gold Coast and AusCycling. A direct replica of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Freestyle BMX course, the Course not only helped Logan and Queensland’s Natalya Diehm to fine tune their tricks pre-Tokyo, it will also benefit budding BMX riders to prepare for any future Games and competitions.

In his post-race video, Logan thanked the Queensland Academy of Sport for playing a massive part in securing the gold medal.

Congratulations Logan, all of Queensland is so proud of your performance and for bringing our great state to the world stage!
