The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) takes a holistic approach to athlete health and welfare, with specialised services including:
- physiotherapy and massage
Sports Nutrition Provider Network
The QAS Sports Nutrition Provider Network provides a Sports Nutrition Coordinator and a network of sports dieticians to service each of the QAS squads.
Our providers help QAS athletes by assessing eating patterns and determining and addressing any specific nutrition issues or concerns athletes may have. They focus on delivering services that are individualised and tailored to suit the needs of the squads. We have a number of regional dietitians to service our athletes in regional Queensland.
The QAS Sports Nutrition Provider Network Directory includes professional summaries of our preferred service providers. This information has been collated to assist in providing coaches and other relevant individuals with information on the experience and skills available to them at the QAS.
Sport and exercise psychology
The QAS Sport and Exercise Psychology Network assists athletes to enhance their performance via ongoing development of their mental skills and abilities. We provide a coordinated delivery of sport and exercise psychology services in both group and individual formats, covering a large range of performance and personal issues that may impact upon an athlete's sporting achievement.
Services range from psycho-educational programs to develop mental skills through to tailored interventions to address specific challenges. A confidential counselling service is also available.
Physiotherapy and massage
The QAS Physiotherapy Network comprises a group of highly qualified physiotherapists with extensive experience in elite sport at the state, national and international level. Services are provided in private consultation with athletes on a fee-for-service basis. These services are available throughout metropolitan and regional Queensland.
The QAS Sports Medicine Physiotherapy Network Directory provides information regarding QAS-preferred service providers.
